Nevery Lorakeet’s dreamy new Kira outfit for LpD inspired me to leave my dark studio for a prettier setting among the octopi at The Gallery Gift Shop. Available in the white version shown here and in sand, Kira combines a flounced lace-covered skirt with a crop top and lace gilet. It’s fresh and sweet, even though it does flash a bit of summertime flesh. Speaking of, Inka Mexicola’s creamy soft skins for Essences continue to thrill me. I can’t believe how lucky we are to be able to buy 70L skins bi-weekly at TDR Fusion. To round out Portia’s peaches and strawberries look, I treated myself to some hair by Tram. This ‘do appears very innocent, and yet I swear that I saw it in a manga frame. I believe it was meant to be the messy evidence of the heroine’s epic sexual adventures. I will see if I can find the pic to share it with you. No, really, it’s no trouble, no trouble at all.

Bunny don’t play dat

I am a dyed-in-the-egg fan of easter. (As a secular, chick-hugging, basket-filling rite of spring.) But Portia has had one too many hollow chocolate treats. Get too close to her this Sunday and she’ll give you an earful about the eggsploitation of hens. Portia’s lavender mesh corset is from Etchaflesh, the store where corsets go to be born. Select styles offer regular sizes and busty versions in one pack. There are no appliers involved in the busty versions. Each size of the bübs-friendly version boasts the same DD-size cups. As large as the cups look, they could not accommodate Ms. Capelo’s Lolas until I’d downsized them from watermelons to smaller watermelons.
I suspect some of you are too young to remember Homey D. Clown.

I reconnected with an old virtual flame, someone I thought I’d never speak to again, and we’ve been tearing through my erotic fantasies. (Which these pictures don’t even come close to capturing.) He’s afk this week, just when I’ve gone all chastity-belt-curious. I figured Portia could feel things out for me, but I made a disastrous purchase from Repressed Designs of an inexplicably enormous belt that can’t be reduced, even though it’s labeled modifiable. Determined to scratch my itch until it turned bright red, I kitted Portia out with some of MetaTheodora’s cyber bits, which make nice substitutes for the belt and for clamps. Although they are not made for Lolas, the nips bits fit the falsies just fine if you tweak them. (The bits, not the tits.)

Pretty gritty

It’s time once again for Fashion for Life, a charity event which supports cancer research. I did my shopping, and I hope to feature my purchases over the next few posts. (I also just bought a rubber corset, and I have my eye on a metal chastity belt…so my plan to be posh may go awry.) Ms. Nevery Lorakeet of LpD makes the kind of ball-gown that ladies adore: delicately coloured, dreamy and fluffy like whipped cream. Her new gown, Steam Cloud, features a boned white corset set against a pale pink inset in the bodice. No fewer than eight large panels of white net make up the voluminous skirt. A good SL blogger, like Lada Leeroy, will run with this gown to a stunning sylvan setting and do it justice in poetic photos. A bad SL blogger—that would be me—will get nervous about the whole nature thing and retreat to her favourite dark alleyway. Think of it as an urban beautification project.

Another one of LpD’s charity items is the makeup Portia wears in this post. The eye is an especially elegant combination of silver-white shadow and dramatic black eyeliner. If you are planning to shop Fashion For Life, do note that the organizers have made all our lives perfect by providing a page of direct TPs to the participating creators’ booths. Because the event is spread over seven sims representing the seven wonders of the ancient world there is absolutely no lag—a wonder in itself.

It is with a heavy sigh—and a van-load of expletives—that I announce the imminent disappearance of Pleisure from the blogosphere. For quite some time I have been unable to upgrade to new versions of any viewer. Now with server-side-Easy-Bake-Oven about to debut, I will no longer be able to blog without buying a new computer, and a PC at that. It’s possible Pleisure will just go into a coma like Buffy did when she decided to give up fighting Glory. And a witch will come to the rescue. (Has to be a witch: the Mac geniuses know nothing about what one needs for SL.) Until the coma comes, I am going to share fashion stuffs with you, even if the pics I take are less than perfect. Sian Pearl has just released an Extreme Cyber HeadSet for MetaTheodora. There’s a version with a semi-opaque visor that is guaranteed to terrify spoiled blonde gods with bad taste in clothing. Portia pairs her headset with Epic’s Tango-friendly Slasher suit, which is available in multiple colours at a reduced price for a limited time at Bewbapalooza. This outfit inspired me to shop for neck corsets, so you may not see Portia’s lips before Easter, when the desire for chocolate will embolden her to meet the day in nothing more than a layer of Chap-Stik. The proper avenger

I am betting that the last thing you want your blogger to say is “I think I’ve had a relapse.” I was doing so well from November onward, and now I am suffering again. I have a hard time dealing with people and haven’t seen friends more than four times over the past year. Seeing my old grad-school colleagues makes me despair because I no longer feel as though I am part of our group of scholars. Their careers are booming. Mine is stalled; and I now think it was a mistake to keep at it. Beyond that, I seem to be so vulnerable to disappointments that I can feel crushed and unable to recover from a small thing like finding out an apparently single man, whom I don’t even want, is actually married. I went back to bed this morning and then crawled into it again when I returned from a brief work session. Eventually, I launched myself out of bed to clean up the Epic pics I took this week. (Under)statement

It’s sad to see Kyoot go. Saeya Nanda participated in Fifty Linden Friday and in Collabor88, so I have been able to collect quite a few of her pieces. When I think of Kyoot, I think of cleavage. I’m not kidding. Ms. Nanda shows off an av’s assets in a way that is softly sexy rather than flashy. For today’s post, I accessorized one of Kyoot’s understated Whitehaven dress with a new statement necklace from Zibska. It’s an array of slim bamboo branches, appearing substantial from afar and delicate up close. The different textures combine closely related colours: if you blow up this pic you will see that the coffee texture juxtaposes brown with green. The other texture options include black, green and indigo. The necklace is also resizable.

Sweet up front, the A/D/E kneehigh boots from R2 turn surprisingly sexy in the back.

Lost in phone

When I take the subway home in the evening, I feel like the only human left in a world full of pod-people who appear to be mesmerized by small, glowing screens. For me, these machines mark the birth of a society exponentially worse than the one I used to know. I think everyone experiences this dismay at some point in their life. It’s usually tied to a fear that sociability has suffered with the introduction of a new technology: film, TV, the video camera, digital arcade games [pinball rules okay!], the Walkman, personal computers, the internet, and now zombiephones. A friend told me that her mother believes air conditioning ruined civilization because people no longer sat on their front porches and yammered at one another. I once read that the mobile phone is popular because people can’t stand to be alone: one wards off existential angst by talking to anyone about anything. The “smartphone,” by contrast, sucks up so much of the user that she can hardly be said to exist at all, let alone worry about inauthenticity. Or monsters. *dun dun dun*

Higher ground

Bela Tolsen of Tuttifrutti has just released an exciting assortment of leggings to suit every taste. There’s a classic Burberry check, a delicate camouflage pattern, a cool aztec print and any number of colourful abstract and geometric styles. I chose the Running leggings to go with Portia’s free coat from Essences. I love the unusual colour of this coat and its distinctive old newspaper print. A Womenstuff Hunt gift, the pack also contains a black version for those of you who are mourning the loss of Elena’s humanity.

Be sure to check out the Unhinged Festival, which is raising funds for Eku Zhong. Treatment for thyroid cancer has left Ms. Zhong’s skull fragile, and she needs a prosthesis. Given the circumstances, I have to applaud the organizers’ boldly black humorous logo of a skull with an unhinged jaw. Many of the items at the festival are skull-themed, and there are plenty of gachas to make you crazy. Sakide’s Cranium Ring, shown here, comes in a series of bold colours and a series of pale shades. I also played gacha for a pair of lassitude & ennui’s beautifully textured flat suede boots, which rise to mid-calf and feature an embroidered sugar skull. Get your ghoul on for a good cause.
