Tropical cool

I like to do a resort post in the dead of winter. Instead of bathing suits, I’m featuring Indyra Originals’ mesh Memoire skirt, which comes in packs of four variations for only 295L. Portia’s clutch is by Amarelo Manga. One can change the leather, metal and stones via menu. The best part is that it comes with an AO offering four awesome clutch-clutching poses.

Post-Halloween funk

Four days into November, I am still not reconciled to the fact that Portia and Anorak can no longer prance around in orange and black. I could barely remember how to put a normal outfit together until I decided that “cheap” and “grey” could be my themes. In this look, Portia combines a Glow corset and Auxiliary jeans—currently available at The Dressing Room and TDR Blue, respectively—with a fi*friday sweater by Attic. You will need to shell out a bit more for the cool bottle-bottom glasses by K_GS at The Gallery Gift Shop. And the gorgeous hair from Wasabi Pills is regular price at Fameshed. The best news is that Portia’s sneakers are a free gift from Balkanik 2.0, and there are several other pairs in the pack. They are resizable to fit women and menfolk.

I want to highlight the jewellery Portia wears in this post. It’s a witty set of lightbulb earrings and necklace available from Amorous at the Tomorrow Today fundraiser for Matchbook Monday, whose story you can read on the intertubes. The vendor only shows hot pink and turquoise, but there are dozens of options in the colour-change menu. Portia also wears Madeleine, the pretty cheapie shirt from U.one, and a pair of LB pants from NuDoLu, which feature a lacey-looking fabric and grey woolies below the cuffs. (You can see more of her outfit on the Pleisure Flickr.) I stalked these trousers hard, and I hit the 40L rabbit-hat gacha while I waited. In case you’re wondering, I won the trousers on a ?. The other letters I saw were the usual U, Y and X. I think there was also a 666, the number of the beast that lurks in these frustrating LBs.

Post 190. Who would have predicted that my mother’s jalopy of a computer would die and she’d replace it with a Vaio that whipped me out to Blur at light speed. Okay, bullet train speed.

Still doesn’t capture the magic of Blur.

Soft pink

I remember a summer when I decided to follow the trend to pastels, floral prints and ladylike dresses. I was living in New York City at the time, and this wardrobe made me look so sweet and friendly that everyone stopped me on the street for directions. I had to go back to black just to make it to work on time! Luckily, Portia never has to be anywhere, so she can be the dustiest rose around. For this post, I took her to the Starlustland sign (in the Floydian Territories), where each letter offers a different pose.

Portia pairs a peach freebie dress from Drown with freebie tights by amato. Her hair, which attracted a lot of attention from fellow Sunday shoppers, was a Stumblebum Brigade special shade (Highlighty Twix) of lamb’s Say. The duck-feather headband from [glow] Studio was one of the items in “old pink” offered by the Weekend Fever shops.

A face plastered with makeup and yet Portia still looks pretty. This lovely skin is Abella Gray HB by Rebecca Dembo, a 10,000 members gift to Fabulously Free in SL, and it should still be available in notices or at the headquarters.

The Starlustland sign offers some extraordinary poses, none of which properly displays the ankle-length tulle skirt of Chantkare’s Weekend Fever item, Duquese. Chantkare is one of my favorite stores for feminine dresses. Portia paired this cocktail gown with Periquita’s Silly Wedge shoes, which are colour-change, instead of the obvious stiletto. The necklace is the Fab Free 10,000 gift from Glitterati, Rosebud in turquoise.

It must be the Sailor’s Delight Windlight setting that has Portia looking out to sea from her perch atop the letter N. I was well chuffed to finally have an outfit that called for Clawtooth by Clawtooth’s Good Morning in the Peeled Carrots shade, but it looks like Portia may have shed a few tears over the unconventional hairdo. Or did her sailor date stand her up? The skin is Adam n Eve Sasha tone 2 smudge makeup.
