I reconnected with an old virtual flame, someone I thought I’d never speak to again, and we’ve been tearing through my erotic fantasies. (Which these pictures don’t even come close to capturing.) He’s afk this week, just when I’ve gone all chastity-belt-curious. I figured Portia could feel things out for me, but I made a disastrous purchase from Repressed Designs of an inexplicably enormous belt that can’t be reduced, even though it’s labeled modifiable. Determined to scratch my itch until it turned bright red, I kitted Portia out with some of MetaTheodora’s cyber bits, which make nice substitutes for the belt and for clamps. Although they are not made for Lolas, the nips bits fit the falsies just fine if you tweak them. (The bits, not the tits.)

The fear of gold

I was about to hit the pay button for Paperbag’s silver Slique unitard when something inside me snapped. Or creaked. It was more like a creak. I realized that it was time to give up on the safety of silver and confront my longstanding fear of intense gold.

In real life, were I to wear even a subtle gold, it would look like a piece of Hanukkah geld had sprouted a whitehead. But this is not real life, and Portia doesn’t look like she needs to be squeezed (more).

Hello earth

Time passes between shooting pictures, editing them and posting them. Occasionally I find myself posting pictures that feel stronger than I do at the moment of writing, that feel as good as I did at the moment of shooting. Today I haz a sad, so I won’t tell you how this pic revises the end of Anna Karenina. I do hope that despite my failure of words, you will feel inspired to fly off to the Couturier’s Docks, where, as of noon today, Riri Ninni’s kinky Yoke Joke necklace is available in brown or blue-black in limited numbers. You could then take a taxi to LpD to pick up Nevery Lorakeet’s very romantic Ophelia dress, which is available in ecru, shown here, as well as white and pale pink. Brings me sugar

Lilo Glom of JesyLilo has turned her hand to clothing. The HotBow jumpsuit is adorable. Cuffed just below the knee, it’s decorated with a lavish bow. Ms. Glom’s beautifully textured ColdKnit Hoodie in a gentle shade of blue surprises with a pale pink bow at the back. Both items are available in other colours. I can see a Grease fan sporting the black version of the jumpsuit, which features a bold red bow just dying to be matched by a pair of saucy stilettos. Looking a little more staid, Anorak sports grey-velvet loafers, brand new from Riri Ninni at h.m.a.e.m. The loafers are also available in sapphire blue, deep red and black. They make me yearn for a smoking jacket and a cravat.

This lovely skin with multi-colour eyeshadow is also from Jesylilo. It’s my fave from the Cupcake series, which skews young with plenty of pink cheeks. If Anorak is looking a little uptight here, it’s because I made her wait in the lobby while I bought a pair of slutty new sandals from Celoe. I was prepared to pay 850, figured they would be 895, and quietly ponied up 950 big Ls before Anorak could realize I was spending her inheritance.

Never been a night owl

I’ve never been one of those people who can’t believe she’s starting her work-shift at the ungodly hour of 1PM. Love this geek chic: new from Wasabi Pills, Lumi 2 features curly hair with the cute colour-change hat from Lumi. Lumi 2 is adjustable mesh, so if you found the original too big for your noggin you are sure to enjoy the sequel.

I’ve never been one of those people who wakes up to her surroundings around 4PM. The Lumen dress is not the latest offering from Nevery Lorakeet of LpD, but it is one of my favourites. I can never resist a paisley pattern, and the batwing sleeves are fun to photograph. The Lumen pack includes a poncho version as well as the dress. Lost in phone

When I take the subway home in the evening, I feel like the only human left in a world full of pod-people who appear to be mesmerized by small, glowing screens. For me, these machines mark the birth of a society exponentially worse than the one I used to know. I think everyone experiences this dismay at some point in their life. It’s usually tied to a fear that sociability has suffered with the introduction of a new technology: film, TV, the video camera, digital arcade games [pinball rules okay!], the Walkman, personal computers, the internet, and now zombiephones. A friend told me that her mother believes air conditioning ruined civilization because people no longer sat on their front porches and yammered at one another. I once read that the mobile phone is popular because people can’t stand to be alone: one wards off existential angst by talking to anyone about anything. The “smartphone,” by contrast, sucks up so much of the user that she can hardly be said to exist at all, let alone worry about inauthenticity. Or monsters. *dun dun dun*

Cushioned for the corners

Tonight I was in the mood to see what kind of mischief I could get up to with a pair of breasts, two models and a couple of pose boxes. Anorak shows off in new hair from LeLutka and new boots from h.m.a.e.m. Jasmine is based on Princess Jasmine, who is some kind of royal chick from a kid’s movie. The hair, which can be worn with or without the long pony-tail, comes with two necklaces and the metal-and-gem-changing earrings you see here. Luxo, the over-the-knee zebra-stripe boots from Riri Ninni, get their appeal from the deliciously perverse contrast between no heel and lots of leg. Anorak also wears a Dressing Room Fusion skin from Al Vulo. It comes with an applier for Lolas Tango falsies. I’m starting to realize why appliers that match an av’s skin are such wonderful time-saving devices. I’m also starting to realize that creators who charge 100L for the applier in addition to 200L for the dress make big bübage a very expensive proposition.

The high cost of bigbübs inspires me to urge you once more to check out the Hunt for Your Inner Slut hunt, which ends on December 15. Not all of the items have been updated to fit Tango, but this little number from Rack City is good to go. Portia, on the other hand, is good for nothing but sleep.

Glitzmas

One of the things I love about the Christmas season in SL is the glitz. You won’t see me wearing gold or silver with black in my real life. But Anorak can be as glam as she wants to be in her new skinny jeans, a classy take on a 21st-century trend from Bela Tolsen of TuttiFrutti.

We finally get a look at Dorothy, and she’s not ugly at all. Sopha Portal’s latest skin focuses on softly glimmering eye makeups and orange and pink lip colours.

For Dorothy, there are three caucasian skintones to choose from and eight makeups in each pack. All makeups come with teeth versions, and the pack includes a pretty shape not shown here. Cleavage is sold separately.

Higher ground

Bela Tolsen of Tuttifrutti has just released an exciting assortment of leggings to suit every taste. There’s a classic Burberry check, a delicate camouflage pattern, a cool aztec print and any number of colourful abstract and geometric styles. I chose the Running leggings to go with Portia’s free coat from Essences. I love the unusual colour of this coat and its distinctive old newspaper print. A Womenstuff Hunt gift, the pack also contains a black version for those of you who are mourning the loss of Elena’s humanity.

Be sure to check out the Unhinged Festival, which is raising funds for Eku Zhong. Treatment for thyroid cancer has left Ms. Zhong’s skull fragile, and she needs a prosthesis. Given the circumstances, I have to applaud the organizers’ boldly black humorous logo of a skull with an unhinged jaw. Many of the items at the festival are skull-themed, and there are plenty of gachas to make you crazy. Sakide’s Cranium Ring, shown here, comes in a series of bold colours and a series of pale shades. I also played gacha for a pair of lassitude & ennui’s beautifully textured flat suede boots, which rise to mid-calf and feature an embroidered sugar skull. Get your ghoul on for a good cause.
