Ripped from today’s hemlines

Modavia Fashion Week is all about the jaw and the dropping. At the creativity. And the prices. It’s true that some designers are offering super complete outfits for 1,000L, meaning that you are ultimately getting a sweet deal. But if you want a hat in the shape of a lobster embracing a fox, it’s going to cost you. (Even more so if your partner orders you to buy the matching chastity belt.) I perused the high-end offerings and considered tping right back to the poor house, but then I found the Ginevra outfit by Glam Affair. This combo of a ruffled black top and high-waisted pants is a steal for only 300L. And if you’re a perverse little poppet like me, you’ll buy it with the pants in grey because the brightly coloured versions might make you look happy or something.

Fashionista frugality—I mean creativity—dictates that the Ginevra outfit must be split into two ensembles. I decided that the blouse was the perfect excuse to pick up something from epoque, where I’ve long been drooling over the unusual colour range. The bejewelled and bristling Noir 2 earrings and ring from Finesmith brought the look a sophisticated edge. Of course, I had to undercut that with the pink-panther-patterned shoes. (See above re perverse.)

Inspired by Collabor88, I wanted a neon top for the Ginevra pants, but my money gravitated towards a pink skirt and khkai tee combo from tres blah. The new necklace from Piddidle and the bold bronze jewellery set, a MFW gift from Osakki, more than made up for the ultra-neutralness of the pants and tee.

The Ruby skin from Curio’s Jewel megapack brought the drama. Jewel’s is a grownup face, exclusively brunette, mostly smokey-eyed, with some dramatic looks that remind me of film noir, as well as more subtle makeups like the one Portia wears in today’s first photo. In these makeups, which I favour, Portia looks a little bruised emotionally and vulnerable in a very seductive way.

Having left MFW still longing for a beyond-my-budget haute couture hat, I scrounged up this LB scuba mask from Le Poppycock and tested it on the streets of Paris. In couture mecca, the bubbles taste just like champagne.
