We all face this problem eventually: how to make one’s 685th blog post sparkle as brightly as the rest. I decided to go for big jewels and a petite shape from SPg by blogger extraordinaire Lily Gartner (SL Yummies). Lily is a one-woman pep squad as well as a talented photographer. If you enjoy dark photos, as I do, or you’re a shadow junkie, you’ll want to take a look at the depths that Lily seems to conjure out of thin air.
I think Lily might agree with me that the ultimate secret weapon for a more satisfying blog post is the look and smell of fresh baked goods. But it doesn’t hurt to get some shadow action out of Exodus. Without anisotropic filtering, of course, which is MacBookPro kryptonite. And, following Strawberry Singh’s suggestion, using beta 11.something because the current beta leaves black lines on my image, whereas older versions, and other viewers, give me image misalignment and colour mismatch instead. Which for some dumb reason I prefer. Of the six photos I took with shadows activated, the shadows mostly worked fine but didn’t register in one quadrant of one image. This happens in Viewer 3 also. The exciting thing is that I got a real depth of field effect, so Exodus is far superior to Viewer 3 on that score.
